This privacy policy explains how personal data is processed when using the Sportmatrix platform.

2. Applicable law
We process personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union (GDPR) and, where applicable, the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).
3. What data we process
Depending on how Sportmatrix is used, we process in particular:
- technical data such as IP address, device and browser data, log data, access times, and security events;
- account and registration data such as name, display name, email address, encrypted password, account type, and language settings;
- profile data of players, coaches, clubs, and fans, especially sports-related information, location data, photos, videos, career or club information, qualifications, interests, and availability;
- marketplace, application, and communication data such as listings, search requests, saved content, messages, connections, applications, blocked users, and interactions;
- support and moderation data such as inquiries, reports, affected content, processing status, and internal review notes;
- payment and contract data where paid services are offered.
4. Purposes of processing
We process personal data in particular for:
- providing, administering, and securing the platform;
- registering and managing user accounts;
- creating, displaying, and searching profiles, listings, and open positions;
- enabling messages, applications, connections, saved content, and notifications;
- handling support requests, reports, and moderation cases;
- preventing abuse, spam, fraud, and security incidents;
- enforcing our terms and community rules;
- improving, maintaining, and troubleshooting the platform;
- fulfilling legal obligations.
5. Legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, processing is carried out in particular on the following bases:
- Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for performance of the user contract;
- Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR on the basis of consent, for example for optional cookies, newsletters, or voluntary visibility settings;
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR on the basis of legitimate interests, in particular in operating the platform, security, support, moderation, abuse prevention, and improvement;
- Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR for compliance with legal obligations.
6. Visibility of profiles and content
Sportmatrix is intended to support discoverability and contact within the football environment. Depending on account type, function, settings, and access permissions, profile information, sports-related information, media, listings, and interactions may be visible to other users.
Users are responsible for deciding which voluntary information they publish. Please do not publish data that you do not want to share with other users.
7. Underage users
Independent registration is permitted only for adult users. Users between 13 and 17 years of age may use Sportmatrix only with the consent of a legal representative. Users under 13 are not permitted to register.
Where processing is based on consent and the underage user cannot legally provide valid consent themselves under applicable law, we obtain the consent or confirmation of a legal representative. We may take appropriate steps to verify that consent.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
Sportmatrix uses technically necessary cookies and similar technologies to provide the platform, enable logins, ensure security, and save settings.
Optional cookies, in particular for analytics, reach measurement, or marketing, are used only where consent is required and has been given. Cookie settings can be changed at any time via the available settings or through the browser.
9. Disclosure of data
We disclose personal data only where this is necessary, legally permissible, or otherwise allowed. Recipients may in particular include hosting, infrastructure, email, payment, support, analytics, and security service providers, legal advisers, authorities, courts, and other users where data is made visible or shared through platform functions.
Service providers are contractually obliged to comply with appropriate data protection and security standards.
10. International data transfers
Personal data may be processed in Switzerland, in the EU or EEA, or in other countries in which our service providers are located.
Where data is transferred to countries without an adequate level of data protection, we implement appropriate safeguards, in particular standard contractual clauses or other legally recognized guarantees.
11. Retention period
We store personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purposes or as required by statutory retention obligations.
After deletion of a user account, personal data is deleted or anonymized unless legal obligations, security reasons, evidentiary requirements, or legitimate interests require otherwise.
12. Data security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.
13. Rights of data subjects
Under applicable data protection law, data subjects have rights in particular to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection, withdrawal of consent given, and lodging a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority.
Requests can be sent to privacy@sportmatrix.app. We may require an appropriate identity check.
14. Complaints
Data subjects may lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority. For users in the EU, this is in particular the authority at the place of residence, workplace, or the place of the alleged infringement. For Switzerland, the competent authority is in particular the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
15. Changes
We may update this privacy policy if Sportmatrix, our data processing, or legal requirements change. The current version is available on the platform.
